So today, well I slept a lot! I thought I had managed to get over the flight, apparently not so much! I got up nice and early and went for a walk through Times Square and the generally vacinity... let's just say it's a fraction (a really big fraction!) bigger than I thought!
Came back home having purchased a cool new i heart NY towel cos my apartment thing doestn have any. Thought I'd have a quick lay down, you know, just for a few minutes - and woke at 6pm!
Went shopping to the closest thing to a supermarket I could find in Times Square - it was pretty much an overpriced tourist trapping supermarket look alike thing - and got some essentials, including... Dr Pepper! Shut up, it is essential! As was the cold and flu stuff, I still haven't shaken the stupid thing from weeks ago.
On the way back I got bailed up by a random street seller dude with cheap tix to the Comedy Club opposite my room so I grabbed one and went along. I'm not sexist, you know that, far from it in fact - but female comedian's just really are NOT funny. There was two funny dudes out of about 8 in the line up and even then they didn't compete with some of the conversations I have with some of my mates. That aside, it was still a cool night, filled with foreigners attempting to drink American beer because we thought we should! I'm going to check out some more shows there (Ha! Comedy Club on W46th) because it is the NYC Underground Festival so there is a chance a couple of up and comers might appear.
I then went to an Irish Pub, well, if that's what you could call it! Despite the big Harp sign out the front, they didn't serve it, so I ended up drinking Carlsburgh, which is fine - it's probably the best beer in the world - or say they say, but it sure isn't Irish!
Anyway, still a good day, soaking up the fact the Times Square is so much bigger than I thought. I have to tell you - I love this city - and I know I have hardly seen a thing so far.
Tomorrow I'm heading to the Red Cross in NYC for the day, I've booked a Broadway Show for the day after (Altar Boyz, Jen, since I didnt get to see it in Oz with you!). I have my New York Pass, which gets me into about 40 different attractions for free (well for the the mere price of about $220 AUD) so expect some more interesting updates in the days to come.
Till then... keep spreading the news ...
